5 important bacterial strains, biotin and the amino acid glutamine

Lactobact FORTE is a high-quality, pharmacy-grade dietary supplement that provides a daily supply of specifically selected lactic acid bacteria, the amino acid glutamine, and the water-soluble vitamin biotin. The product was specifically developed for the dietary management of inflamed intestinal mucosa. Lactobact FORTE contains five microencapsulated, scientifically selected strains of lactic acid bacteria – including lactobacilli, bifidobacteria, and enterococci – at a concentration of 5 billion colony-forming units (CFU) per daily dose. The microencapsulated form protects the sensitive bacteria from stomach and bile acids and ensures they can reach the intestines unharmed. For your daily support, simply take two enteric-coated capsules. This bacterial combination is supplemented by glutamine and biotin. Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes, normal macronutrient metabolism, energy metabolism, and normal nervous system function. * Lactobact FORTE is manufactured in Germany under pharmaceutical quality standards and is suitable for adolescents from 8 years of age and adults.

ingredients

Bifidobacterium infantis

Reduces intestinal inflammation and has a positive effect on the immune system.

Bifidobacterium animalis

Supports the regeneration and maintenance of an intact intestinal barrier by reducing inflammation.

Lactobacillus bulgaricus

Reduces inflammation by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines.

Lactobacillus helveticus

Reduces inflammation, fights pathogens and protects against gastrointestinal infections.

Enterococcus faecium

Inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria and is therefore important for a healthy colon microbiota (old intestinal flora).

Biotin (50 µg per daily serving)

Biotin contributes to normal energy metabolism, normal nervous system function, and micronutrient metabolism. It also promotes the maintenance of normal hair, skin, and mucous membranes.

Glutamine (600 mg per daily serving)

Glutamine is an amino acid produced by the body itself and serves as a natural building block of proteins. It is one of the most abundant free amino acids in blood plasma and muscle. Glutamine is involved in many processes of human metabolism and is being studied in research and science in relation to energy balance, immune function, and intestinal physiology.

Can I combine Lactobact FORTE with my conventional therapy?

That's not a problem. However, please leave a gap of 2 hours between taking your medication to avoid possible interactions or reduced effectiveness of the respective preparations. If you have any further concerns, contact your doctor.

How exactly should it be applied?

Lactobact FORTE can be used as a treatment, over a period of 3 to 6 months or permanently. In the case of acute bouts of inflammation, you should discuss taking it with a doctor.

The microbiome as a possible key in IBD

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease are increasingly the focus of medical research. These diseases are complex and can affect different parts of the intestine. While Crohn's disease can, in principle, involve all layers of the intestinal wall, ulcerative colitis is usually limited to the colon.

The exact causes of chronic inflammatory bowel disease are not yet fully understood. However, scientists believe that an interplay of several factors plays a role. Genetic predisposition, diet, stress, smoking, sleep habits, and certain medications are discussed as possible contributing factors.

An exciting research approach concerns the intestinal microbiota (intestinal flora). Current studies show that those affected often experience changes in the microbial balance – also known as dysbiosis. The diversity of beneficial microorganisms often decreases, while certain bacterial species can increase. This imbalance is associated with inflammatory processes and an altered intestinal barrier.

The gut-brain axis and the immune system also play an important role in this context. Researchers are investigating how a disturbed balance in the microbiome could affect not only gut health but also overall well-being.
Research on IBD, microbiome and dysbiosis is progressing steadily.

The aim is to better understand how the interaction between genetic factors, environmental influences and the intestinal flora influences the development and progression of chronic inflammatory bowel diseases.
